FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) Q: I thought the Grand Championship was limited to the top 50 in points. Why did the 66th ranked member qualify? A: 59 seats were made available to the top 50 in the Chase for the Championship and all series winners between 7/1 and 12/31. Additional seats were made available because 7 series winners qualified with Chase for the Championship points as well. Q: Is it necessary to register/check-in before each event? A: All participants (qualifiers and alternates) must register/check-in with the event staff before 7pm each night. Q: How many alternates will be allowed in each event? A: This number could be different for each event depending on the number of qualifiers who arrive. Historically, we have seated anywhere between 5 and 20 alternates into a Grand Championship tournament. Anyone who did not qualify outright is encouraged to register before 7pm as an alternate. Q: Are points awarded for these Grand Championship events? A: Points are awarded for all Grand Championship events and are credited towards the next Chase for the Championship. No points are awarded for the Hall of Fame Game.
Q: Why are these events scheduled at new/different venues? A: These venues are sponsors of the Grand Championship and are potential sites for future events. Your support of these venues is appreciated. Double Reward Points will be awarded for all Grand Championship events. Q: What is the Heartland Poker Tour event for which the Chase for the Championship winner and Grand Championship Series winner will qualify? A: Heartland Poker Tour at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel in Tama, IA on March 14th - 18th. Other arrangements can be made for winners with scheduling conflicts. Q: I have a different question specific to the Grand Championship Series. How do I get it answered? A: Send us an email to info@5thStreetPokerParties.com. If this information is of value to all members, we will post the question/answer here. Q: What is the difference between the Tournament of Champions and the Grand Championship? A: The Tournament of Champions and the Seasonal Grand Championship are two different events. A Tournament of Champions is specific to a venue in which participants compete over a 13-event series. After 13 weeks, the top 35 in points (and event champs) during the series qualify for the Tournament of Champions (14th event) where a $200 Grand Prize is awarded to the winner. The Grand Championship occurs twice per year during the winter and summer in conjunction with the completion of the Chase for the Championship. The Chase for the Championship is an accumulation of player points across all venues from Jan 1 - June 30 and again from July 1 and Dec 31. The Top 50 in "Chase" points and series winners qualify for the Grand Championship. The winner of the Chase for the Championship is awarded a seat into a major tournament. The Grand Championship series is a collection of 4 events (a mini-series). The member who accumulates the most points in the 4 event Grand Championship series is awarded a seat into a major tournament. Cash prizes are awarded for the top finishers in each event as well. Alternates are welcome to register for and Tournament of Champions or Grand Championship tournament. Alternates are seated in the absence of qualified members and are ranked either by their final series ranking (Tournament of Champions) or their final Chase for the Championship ranking (Grand Championship). Anyone who did not qualify outright is encouraged to register. Several open seats have been available to alternates at each event.
