Click here for final results and photos from the event The Grand Championship Series is a culmination of six months of tournament play in which the series champions and top point earners in the Chase for the Championship compete in 63 heads-up matches within the NCAA-style Grand Championship Series bracket for a seat in an upcoming Heartland Poker Tour event. Points were accumulated from January 1st to June 30th to detemine the qualifiers for the Grand Championship VI in September 2008. On July 1st, the overall point standings were reset to zero and a new points chase will continue through December 31st for the 5th Street Poker Parties Grand Championship VII in February 2009. Participants will be seeded into the 64-person bracket based on their final standing in the Chase for the Championship VI. The #1 seed will play the #64 seed, the #2 seed will play the #63 seed, the #3 seed will play the #62 seed, and so on. Each match will end when one person has all the chips. The winner will advance to the next match in the bracket, the loser is eliminated.
Heads-Up Grand Championship. Those invitees who are listed, but do not recieve an email invitation should still RSVP via one of the approved channels (phone, text, email). It is very possible that we no longer have a valid email address for you or the email was caught by your junk mail filter. Check-in opens at 11am on the event date. All qualifying participants are required to formerly check-in/register in-person 30 min. prior to "shuffle up and deal" (by 11:30am) to receive their table and seating assignment.

64 players will be allowed to participate. The participant pool consists of Series Champions (10), the Top 50 in the Chase for the Championship, and wild card qualifiers (13). Some members qualified as both Series Champions and being ranked in the Chase for the Championship Top 50. Of the qualifying members listed below, the names in BOLD are confirmed/RSVP'd participants; the names that are Series champions are listed to the left. Chase for the Championship qualifiers (highlighted) and wild card qualifiers (not highlighted) are listed to the right.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) Q: Is it necessary to register/check-in before each event? A: All participants (qualifiers and alternates) must register/check-in with the event staff before the event to receive their table and seating assignment. Q: How many alternates will be allowed into the Grand Championship? A: Zero. The participant field will consist of only confirmed/RSVP'd players only. If a player is a confirmed "NO", an additional member will be invited in their place. If less than 64 players are confirmed participants, the top seed(s) will receive a first round bye. Q: Are points awarded for these Grand Championship events? A: Points are awarded for all Grand Championship events and are credited towards the next Chase for the Championship. No points are awarded for the Hall of Fame Game.
Q: Why are these events scheduled at new/different venues? A: These venues are sponsors of the Grand Championship and are potential sites for future events. Your support of these venues is appreciated. Double Reward Points will be awarded for all Grand Championship events. Members must turn in a paid receipt to the tournament director before the staff departs the facility. Q: What is the Heartland Poker Tour event for which the Chase for the Championship winner and Grand Championship Series winner will qualify? A: Heartland Poker Tour at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs on September 20 - 21. Other arrangements can be made for winners with scheduling conflicts. A: The Tournament of Champions and the Seasonal Grand Championship are two different events. A Tournament of Champions is specific to a venue in which participants compete over a 13-event series. After 13 weeks, the top 35 in points (and event champs) during the series qualify for the Tournament of Champions (14th event) where a $200 Grand Prize is awarded to the winner. The Grand Championship occurs twice per year during the winter and summer in conjunction with the completion of the Chase for the Championship. The Chase for the Championship is an accumulation of player points across all venues from Jan 1 - June 30 and again from July 1 and Dec 31. The Top 50 in "Chase" points and series winners qualify for the Grand Championship. The winner of the Chase for the Championship is awarded a seat into a major tournament. The Grand Championship series is a collection of 63 heads-up matches within an NCAA Tournament-style bracket. The member who wins all 6 of their heads-up matches during the Grand Championship series is awarded a seat into a major tournament.
